Saturday, our children dived into the amazing world of chess, all thanks to a fantastic group of young adult volunteers! We absolutely loved seeing the smiles, the focus, and the pure excitement as they learned the game. It´s incredible to watch them sharpen their minds while having so much fun!
This wonderful initiative is part of I.I.M.U.N.'s (India´s International Movement to Unite Nations) "Checkmate for Change" program. They launched this to celebrate World Chess Day on July 20th, highlighting how chess is an awesome, affordable way to boost critical thinking, resilience, and inclusion.
We can´t thank our amazing young adult volunteers enough for making today so special. And a massive thank you to I.I.M.U.N. for this fantastic "Checkmate for Change" program, and to ChessBase for their invaluable support. Of course, the biggest thank you goes to our spirited children for their enthusiasm and dedication!
It´s truly inspiring to see how a simple 64-square board can build confidence, discipline, and intellectual curiosity that will help our children long after the game is over. We're so proud to be a "lighthouse partner" in this initiative!

Happy Birthday, Saarthak! , Mapusa, Goa
What's better than a party? A party on a school day! ?? This month, we celebrated the birthday of Saarthak, the owner of Purple Martini. While we're usually strict about school, Saarthak and his team have been incredible supporters of our kids, so a little exception had to be made!
After getting enthusiastic "yeses" from the children (who were a little too thrilled to skip school!) and a quick chat with their parents, we packed up 45 of our youngsters and headed to Purple Martini. We prioritized the little ones, and for many, this was their very first outing with us. You can imagine the mix of excitement for them and a tiny bit of worry for us - would they miss their parents? Would they get travel sick? Thankfully, our youngest adventurers were absolute stars and behaved wonderfully!
We arrived just before 1 PM and spent nearly three hours enjoying the fantastic atmosphere. The amazing staff brought out juice boxes, French fries, pizza, and delicious Indian sweets - plenty to go around! Everyone loved watching the waves from the comfort and safety of the restaurant. The kids chatted, played games, and even borrowed my phone to snap some fun photos. Later, Saarthak joined us to cut the cake, with all his staff joining in the celebration. It was truly a great first experience for many of our kids!
There was a moment of excitement when a strong storm rolled in, bringing some seriously strong winds! We were a little worried we might get blown away, but thankfully, Purple Martini has excellent weather protection, and everyone stayed safe and sound. Phew!
